Anne, Duchess of Bedford, took a late afternoon tea break and turned

it into a recognized fourth meal. Breakfast. Lunch. Afternoon Tea. Dinner.

The British way. Now that’s influence. Makes me think I should be doing more to cause a stir.

Of course, “afternoon tea” is not to be confused with “elevenses” or your little ten-minute mid-morning tea break, nor is it to be confused with

“high tea,” which is in the evening.

There are many other intricate details to plot out, such as the food:

scones with clotted cream and jam, cucumber sandwiches (crustless, of

course), cheese and pickles.
